Serik Zhumangarin's press secretary has taken responsibility for the incorrect information regarding VAT in neighboring countries.

Recently, the Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan, Serik Jumangarin, was caught in a significant error. Journalists discovered that in his interview with "Kazakhstan Pravda," he provided false information regarding the VAT thresholds in various countries, as reported by Orda.kz.
Пресс-секретарь Серика Жумангарина признала свою ответственность за распространение неверной информации о НДС в соседних государствах.

Shortly afterward, a comment from the press secretary of the Minister of National Economy, Aliya Rakhimova, appeared on the Exclusive.kz website. She explained that she personally handled the organization of the interview with the Vice Prime Minister — Minister of National Economy for "Kazpravda." However, due to his busy schedule, the interview was prepared remotely, with responses to the journalist's questions provided in writing.

“I reviewed the final interview; it is a common practice to send a draft of the interview to the interviewee beforehand for them to check the figures, highlights, etc. When discussing the VAT thresholds in neighboring countries, the data from Russia was mentioned first, where the threshold is indeed around 10 million tenge, depending on the exchange rate. The threshold in Belarus is 30.1 million tenge, but I overlooked and noted that this was in Uzbekistan. In fact, the threshold for VAT registration in Uzbekistan is 39 million tenge, while in Kyrgyzstan it is 46.9 million tenge. These figures were present in all the presentations from the Ministry of National Economy at the extended government meeting chaired by the head of state, at briefings, on expert platforms, and during the presentation at the NPP 'Atameken.' However, I missed this, and I didn’t manage to coordinate the latest version of the interview with the Vice Prime Minister. That’s why I asked the author of the interview, Kazpravda correspondent Marina Demchenko, to remove the incorrect data, and I prepared new information. We also wanted to add data on legal entities, which took some time. I provided the correct data to 'Kazpravda,'”
commented Aliya Rakhimova.

She added that the data on thresholds in neighboring countries do not influence the calculations conducted within the framework of the budgetary and tax reform.
