“Today, the procurement prices from the government reserve will be announced. For these purposes, it is planned to allocate 10 billion tenge, which will be used to purchase the first 155 thousand (tons — editor's note). Tomorrow, we will likely discuss this issue at the government meeting,” said Aydarbek Saparov.
The minister added that for a larger buyout of about “one million tons, additional funding of 75 billion tenge is required.”
“The Food Corporation” is already gathering grain to fulfill large orders that they find themselves. So far, they have signed five export contracts worth 20 million dollars. Additionally, rules are being prepared to subsidize transportation costs for grain.
“This type of subsidy will reduce transportation costs for grain to the ports of the Black Sea, the Baltic, to Southeast Asia, and so on. As a result, our grain will become competitive in the markets of Europe, Africa, the Caucasus, and other promising markets. We expect the adoption of the rules in the near future. Almost all ministries have agreed, only a couple of ministries are left. I believe that we will resolve all these issues this week,” promised the minister.
In 2024, farmers harvested a third more wheat than last year, which created a risk of price collapse in the market. What the Grain Union thinks about this can be read here.
