A resident of the village of Zholbasshy in the Birtilek rural district, Sheraly Tajibaev, has planted cabbage on 2 hectares of land and is currently harvesting 38 tons of produce. The vegetables were sown last autumn and are now fully mature. The farmer plans to gather an additional 100 tons of harvest in February. The first batch of harvested cabbage is being sent to major cities across the country.
“Very little snow fell this winter. There were no frosts. The vegetable seedlings planted under light cover rooted quickly. Each cabbage head weighs up to 4 kilograms. If we plant the cabbage earlier, we will start sowing the second crop from April and May,” says Sheraly Tajibaev.
Farmers in Keles, who work year-round, are currently engaged in cabbage sowing. Local farms have planted cabbage over an area of about 1000 hectares. The opportunity to harvest three times a season is beneficial for both the agricultural sector and the farmers.
Last year, 2400 hectares of cabbage were sown in the Keles district, and farmers harvested 35 thousand tons of produce, as noted by the akimat.
