Agricultural producers in Turkestan aim to increase their sowing areas by 37,000 hectares, bringing the total to 906,000 hectares. At the same time, cotton planting is set to be nearly halved, limited to 58,000 hectares.
Ali Bek Plalov, the deputy head of the regional agricultural department, is confident that the gross yield will remain unchanged. This outcome will be achieved through enhanced productivity by implementing new technologies. Practice shows that using these innovations can save water, mineral fertilizers, and labor resources. Cotton farmers who have adopted these innovations are harvesting 60 quintals per hectare of raw cotton, which is 2.5 times higher than the average.
This approach fully applies to all areas of crop production, not just cotton cultivation.
To clarify the benefits of modern technologies among farmers, meetings are being held where experts explain how to increase the yield from each hectare.
In the region, 51% of the land has been plowed. A total of 25,000 units of machinery are engaged in fieldwork. Agricultural enterprises have at their disposal 12,000 tractors, 1,000 seeders, 554 plows, and 1,000 cultivators.
This year, it is planned to additionally implement water-saving technologies on 47,000 hectares. This task was set following an analysis of the existing potential in the districts and cities.
