From fake prescriptions to QR codes: Kazakhstan plans to revamp its medication distribution system following intervention from the Anti-Corruption Agency.
In the Abai region, a new system for the free distribution of medications via QR codes is being launched in the "Social Wallet" app of the Ministry of Health, as recommended by the Anti-Corruption Service, reports Orda.kz.

The new system has already shown its initial results. With a 14% increase in the number of patients in 2024, the number of prescriptions issued in the Abai region has decreased by 24,800, indicating a reduction in the practice of fictitious prescriptions.
Currently, the project is operating in pilot mode, but there are plans to expand it nationwide in the future.
