Twelve judges in Kazakhstan have been recommended for dismissal from their positions.

In Kazakhstan, the Supreme Judicial Council has recommended the dismissal of 12 judges, as reported by NUR.KZ citing the agency's press service.

According to the official website of the state authority, the results of the announced competition for 207 vacancies for district judges and equivalent courts were summarized during a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, with 237 candidates applying.

"Recommendations for the positions of district judges and equivalent courts were given to 126 individuals, of which 98 are newly recommended lawyers and 28 are current judges. A total of 91 judges were included in the personnel reserve for the positions of chairpersons of district and equivalent courts, heads of judicial panels, and judges of regional and equivalent courts, as well as judges and heads of judicial panels of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"The Council recommended the dismissal of 12 judges, including: 3 due to retirement, 5 at their own request, 1 due to the legal force of a guilty verdict, and 3 by the decision of the Judicial Jury for committing a disciplinary offense," - the message notes.

In December, we reported that the Senate deputies, during a plenary session of the chamber, dismissed Supreme Court judges Botagoz Eraliyeva and Kambar Nuryshev from their positions.

Additionally, at the next meeting of the Judicial Jury under the Supreme Judicial Council, three disciplinary cases concerning three judges of Kazakhstan were reviewed. Two of them were punished.

It is noted that the official website of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan states that the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan is an autonomous state institution established to ensure the constitutional powers of the President of Kazakhstan in forming courts, guaranteeing the independence of judges, and their inviolability.

Since September 2024, the Supreme Judicial Council of Kazakhstan has been headed by Dmitry Malakhov.

According to the law "On the Judicial System and Status of Judges of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the Judicial Jury is formed to consider disciplinary cases against judges.

In their activities, the members of the Judicial Jury are independent and guided solely by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Constitutional Law, the Law, and the present Regulation.

The Judicial Jury consists of six judges, ensuring representation from judges of all levels. It also includes two representatives of the public and one member of the Supreme Judicial Council from among the judges, who have the right to a consultative vote.
