Nearly 1,500 unused land plots have been identified in the Almaty region.

Nearly 90,000 hectares of agricultural land have been returned to the state.
В Алматинской области обнаружено около 1500 неиспользуемых земельных участков.

“This fact highlights the importance of rational land resource utilization and the need for enhanced oversight in this area. By order of the Committee for Land Resource Management of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a return of unused agricultural land totaling 70 thousand hectares to state ownership is planned by the end of 2024,” the akimat reported.

In this regard, 89.7 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been returned to state ownership, of which 74.8 thousand hectares were voluntarily surrendered by their owners, indicating an increase in their accountability for compliance with the legislation. An additional 14.9 thousand hectares were reclaimed through court proceedings.

This year, local authorities plan to strengthen measures to identify abandoned plots, prevent violations of the law, and improve the ecological condition of the land.

“Effective land use is only possible through close cooperation between government bodies and landowners. In this regard, work will continue in the region to implement new initiatives. It is important to remember that the main task remains the inclusion of agricultural land into circulation, the protection of natural resources, and contributions to the country's economic development,” the agency noted.
