On the republican highway connecting Almaty and Yekaterinburg, which is one of the country's key routes and sees over 10,000 vehicles daily, a difficult situation has arisen, reports Kazpravda.kz citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It has been reported that due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions, roads in the Karaganda region have been closed in two main directions: Karaganda — Astana and Karaganda — Pavlodar.
At the terminal near the city of Temirtau, around 800 vehicles have accumulated due to the road closures.
Police are taking all necessary measures to normalize the traffic situation. In the near future, an escort will be organized for the vehicle convoy to the border of the Akmolinsk region, ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers.
“We strongly urge citizens to refrain from traveling outside populated areas unless absolutely necessary. For up-to-date information on the traffic situation, we recommend following the messages from service 112,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
