Tokayev spoke about a new wave of entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, granted an extensive interview to the newspaper "Ana Tili." The translated interview has been published on the Akorda website, as reported by NUR.KZ.
Токаев поделился информацией о новой волне казахстанских предпринимателей.

In an interview, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev clarified whether he is satisfied with the development of entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan.

"Efforts to enhance the investment and business climate, as well as to foster entrepreneurial initiatives, are issues that I regard as an absolute priority. In my recent address, I instructed the government on this matter.

"In April of last year, a law was passed concerning business operations, aimed at creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs. We are bringing order to the system of state control, transitioning from inspections to preventive measures, and implementing what is referred to as 'clean slate' regulation. The decriminalization of several economic offenses and the prohibition of arrests for 29 economic violations have all been enacted in the interest of entrepreneurs.

"The government supports small and medium-sized businesses through subsidies, preferential lending, and loan guarantees. The share of SMEs in the economy has been steadily increasing, and this sector provides jobs for

4.3 million people, which is nearly half of the employed population. Therefore, it can be confidently stated that entrepreneurial initiatives are becoming a driving force for Kazakhstan's economic growth," noted the president.

Tokayev also emphasized the importance of developing large businesses.

"A new wave of entrepreneurs has emerged in Kazakhstan, possessing progressive visions and implementing cutting-edge technologies. These businesspeople are competitive on a global scale.

"It is encouraging that foreign businesses are opening their offices in Kazakhstan. This contributes to the internationalization of the Kazakh market, enhances healthy competition, and diversifies our economy. The investment headquarters under the government is fulfilling its purpose, making decisions based on the 'one-stop shop' principle.

"The work being carried out by the state to improve the investment climate is yielding results. Recently, the UN ESCAP published a report noting that in 2024, Kazakhstan attracted $15.7 billion in foreign direct investments for new projects, which is 88% higher than the previous year. This is the highest figure in the North and Central Asia region, where our country accounted for nearly two-thirds (63%) of foreign direct investments," said the president.

Tokayev mentioned in the interview that he intends to continue meeting with business representatives and investors to support their constructive initiatives and endeavors.

"I expect the same from the government and all state bodies: to listen to businesses, collaborate with them, and assist entrepreneurs and investors who are investing in promising projects. There can be no question of pressure on businesses; we will punish and hold accountable officials and law enforcement for this. In turn, entrepreneurs must be law-abiding and refrain from participating in fraudulent schemes," he concluded.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the 36th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council in October of last year, expressed the country's goals, highlighting the development of business and attracting investments.

Additionally, in one of his speeches, Tokayev stated that the direct task of the government and akims is to provide comprehensive support to the business community, rather than distancing themselves from it.
