It has been reported that the roadmap for the East Kazakhstan region and the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk for the years 2024–2026 includes environmental protection measures, with the most relevant being:
“In order to improve the environmental situation, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry), together with the akimats, has approved 19 roadmaps aimed at comprehensively addressing the environmental issues of each region. The roadmaps include environmental protection measures to reduce air pollution, water resources, and soil contamination, implement best available techniques at enterprises, manage waste, promote environmental education, and more,” the cabinet's response to the deputy request states.
It is expected that these measures will lead to a 10–20% reduction in harmful emissions across the East Kazakhstan region.
Previously, senators had requested information regarding the planned measures to combat the country's ecological pollution.
