A unique rescue station was officially opened on the Zhaiyk River in Atyrau, as reported by Kazpravda.kz citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Chingis Arinov, along with the region's akim Serik Shapkenov and veterans of civil protection, inaugurated the facility, which will significantly enhance safety levels at the region's water bodies.
5This rescue station is unparalleled in the CIS. The project is unique for several key reasons.
Construction of the facility began at the end of October 2024 and was completed in a record time of 2.5 months.
6High-quality prefabricated modular materials were used during construction, which not only accelerated the building process but also ensured the durability and reliability of the facility.
The project received financial backing and approval from the local akimat.
“The opening of this rescue station is an important step towards ensuring the safety of the residents of Atyrau region (...) This station will be a true support for the region and will serve as an example for other areas in the country. The speed of its construction and the provision of modern equipment highlight the high professionalism of our rescuers,” noted the head of the department.
7The facility includes an administrative block featuring offices, a dispatch center, a relaxation room for rescuers, changing rooms, a kitchen, and restrooms with shower cabins.
Additionally, the station has a box for housing special equipment and watercraft, enabling prompt responses to emergencies.
8During the event, Chingis Arinov handed over the keys to new vehicles for emergency rescue operations. These vehicles, equipped with modern rescue gear, were purchased using funds from the national budget.
A notable moment was the demonstration of new equipment, including the Alligator hovercraft, which is a unique watercraft designed for rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas of water bodies.
Furthermore, a two-story service building for the families of rescuers was constructed on the station's premises. The Minister personally handed over the keys to new apartments to the station's staff, marking a significant step in enhancing their social protection.
9Eleven rooms have already been occupied by station staff, who are provided with comfortable living conditions. Special attention has been given to every detail: the project’s authors ensured that residents could move in with just one suitcase, without worrying about household necessities.
0During the event, Chingis Arinov left a commemorative note and words of encouragement in the rescue station's logbook.
Today, the emergency rescue team of the Atyrau region's Department of Emergency Situations conducts regular safety compliance checks at water bodies and carries out search and rescue operations as well as emergency response tasks.
1Last year, rescuers made 559 emergency response calls, saving over 100 individuals, including 70 children. During large-scale floods, the emergency rescue team evacuated more than three thousand local residents.
This year, 9 local residents, including 4 children, have already been rescued on the Zhaiyk River, underscoring the importance and effectiveness of this facility for the region.
