Malicious actors are creating accounts under the name "Security Tips" and sending messages warning about the supposed blocking of accounts due to "fraudulent activities." Potential victims receive a call to click on a link to the "system center" to confirm their account.
"According to the messages, the scammers claim to have received reports of fraud associated with the account and urge users to urgently confirm their account, threatening with its blocking. Kaspersky Lab noted that such messages are phishing attempts, as the account does not correspond to official notifications from Telegram and may be blocked," the source states.
Experts warn that clicking on the provided links may lead to a fake login page where users might inadvertently enter their information, including phone numbers and passwords. The scammers' goal is to steal accounts on Telegram.
