Former undefeated fighter UFC in the flyweight division Muhammad Mokaev (14-0) commented on the cancellation of the bout between Kazakhstani fighter Asu Alma baev (21-2) and Australian Steve Erceg (12-3), as reported by Vesti.kz .
According to Mokaev, the American promotion is more interested in promoting exciting strikers and tends to overlook fighters' records. He believes that Erceg would have been a more suitable opponent for Alma baev, but the UFC opted to separate them, arranging a more appealing matchup for the league between Erceg and Mexican Brandon Moreno (22-8).
"Asu Alma baev was given a tough opponent. Steve Erceg was much more compatible in style for Asu. Now he has been assigned to Moreno, who will again be in contention," Mokaev said in an interview with " MMA Herald ".
It’s worth noting that Alma baev was supposed to fight Erceg at UFC Vegas 103, which is set to take place on March 2 in Las Vegas (USA). However, both fighters have been separated and new opponents have been found for them.
Now the Kazakhstani fighter will face Brazilian Allan Nascimento (20-6).
