An acting head has been appointed for the Almaty Health Department.

According to the press service of the Almaty city administration, by the decree of the city mayor Yerbolat Dosaev, Akania Asiya Aikanovna has been appointed as the acting head of the city's Public Health Department.

Asiya Akhanova was born and raised in a family of doctors. She is a graduate of the "Bolashak" program, having completed her studies at University College London (2013) and the Kazakh National Medical University named after Asfendiyarov (2015), as well as a doctoral program in "General Medicine" (2016). Additionally, she has completed her studies at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in "Local and State Administration" (2024). She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration.

Asiya Akhanova began her career in 2011, working as a laboratory assistant and methodologist, then as an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at KazNMU, and later as the head of the department. From 2018 to 2020, she was involved in the establishment and management of the Active Longevity Center in Almaty.

Since 2022, she has been a deputy of the Almaty city maslikhat of the eighth convocation.

At the same time, she continues her scientific and pedagogical activities as an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

It is worth noting that, according to the Information System "Paragraph," the previous head of the Public Health Department of Almaty, Shametekov Iran Maratovich, left this position in August of this year. He is currently the head of the Department of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Control Committee of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Astana.
