Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has made personnel changes in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, appointing a new head of the Criminal-Executive System, reports NUR.KZ, citing the Akorda.

"By the decree of the Head of State, Kairbekov Abai Serikovich has been appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Chairman of the Committee for the Criminal-Executive System," - the statement reads.

The official website of the Criminal-Executive System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan states that Abai Kairbekov was born on May 29, 1975, in the Karaganda region.

He graduated from the Karaganda State Technical University in 1997 and from the E.A. Buketov Karaganda State University in 2002.

He has been serving in the internal affairs agencies since 1998.

He began his career as an investigator for juvenile affairs. He then held various positions (including operational roles) within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2011, he has held leadership positions in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
