Irregularities in public procurement have been detected in Shymkent.

“Facts have been established regarding the preferential treatment of certain potential suppliers when making decisions on the complaints under consideration, unjustified approval of contracts from a single source, failure to take action on violations identified during audit activities, and lack of measures to address non-compliance with submitted notifications,” the city prosecutor's office reported.

A total of 59 violations of existing legislation have been identified, including 52 instances that exhibit signs of offenses discrediting public service.

As a result of the review of the prosecutor's oversight act, six officials have been held accountable, including the deputy head of the department.
