“During the state audit of the efficiency of land resource management, geodesy, and cartography, it was established that Kazakhstan lacks its own geodetic coordinate system. This complicates the creation of a unified digital cartographic ecosystem. At the time of the inspection, the republic was using a coordinate system, height, gravimetric, and satellite measurements established back in the mid-20th century. Today, it is both technically and morally outdated,” explained the agency of Alikhan Smailov.
The development of the new system, named QazTRF-23, was carried out by the Ministry of Digital Development. It was launched on January 1, 2025.
“The implementation of QazTRF-23 will significantly enhance the accuracy of geodetic measurements, opening up broad prospects for the state in the areas of territorial planning, construction, and the creation of modern data management systems,” added the Accounts Chamber.
