The international forum, which was canceled last year due to flooding, is now scheduled to take place in 2025.

By the decree of the Prime Minister, signed on January 29, 2025, the composition of the Organizational Committee for the preparation and conduct of the Astana International Forum is approved.

Recall that the cancellation of the 2024 forum became known in mid-April of last year, and the international Astana forum was supposed to take place on June 13-14. While announcing the cancellation of the forum, Tokayev expressed hope that the invited participants would understand this decision.

The press service of Akorda explained that the decision was made due to the unprecedented flooding in Kazakhstan and the necessity to conserve financial resources for addressing the consequences of extensive destruction and providing assistance to the citizens of the country.

Later, the head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, commented on the cancellation of the international Astana forum in 2024. He stated that the primary goal is to restore the affected citizens to normal life, so they were given a specific directive to reduce previously planned international events in the country.

"The international Astana forum will not take place. Of course, it is a necessary and important forum for us, but it can still be postponed. On the other hand, meetings and events that are of primary importance for the well-being of the country are another matter," explained Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
