In his statement, the citizen reported that the item he intended to purchase at the construction supermarket "Leroy Merlin" was marked with a price of 1550 tenge. However, at the checkout, the same item with that article number was sold for 2880 tenge.
Based on this complaint, the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection for the Almaty Region conducted an unscheduled inspection of the large construction supermarket.
During the inspection, it was found that there were two different price tags in the retail space. After examining the location mentioned in the complaint, it became clear that the product displayed outside the store was a branded construction item, but the seller had indicated a price of 1550 tenge on the price tag.
“According to paragraph 54 of chapter 2 of the approved internal trade rules, the seller is obligated to sell the goods to the buyer at the price indicated on the price tag placed on the internal or external displays of the retail space. In the case of selling goods in Kazakhstan at a price exceeding that indicated on the price tag, administrative liability is provided for under part 4 of article 193 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the department clarified.
As a result of the unscheduled inspection of LLP "Leroy Merlin," the department drew up a protocol for an administrative offense in accordance with part 4 of article 193 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The administrative fine amounted to 30 MRP. The supermarket administration exercised the right to pay 50% of the fine amount.
Additionally, in accordance with part 2 of article 152 of the Entrepreneurial Activity Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a directive was issued to the management of LLP to rectify the violation.
