Conflicting news regarding the Kursk region is surfacing on social media. According to these reports, the temporary accommodation center "Olympiec" is ceasing the distribution of food to some refugees.
As determined by journalists from "Komsomolskaya Pravda" as part of a joint project with “Lapsha Media,” aimed at identifying fake news, such publications should not be trusted. The information was disseminated by local activist Valery Moiseyev. He claims that there is a multimillion-dollar debt owed to the temporary accommodation center, and funding from regional authorities for the residents has not been received, leading to a lack of funds for the maintenance of the displaced persons. Consequently, they will no longer be fed in the cafeteria starting from February.
The regional government responded swiftly to the situation. They refuted Moiseyev's statements, asserting that there is no reason for concern.
“The information about the cancellation of hot meals for displaced persons residing in the temporary accommodation center based on the children's health complex 'Olympiec' is not true. This was stated by the Committee for Regional Security of the Kursk Region,” they reported.
According to the Kursk authorities, there are currently 616 people living in "Olympiec" from border areas, including 110 children. They are provided with three meals a day: “Funding for these purposes comes from the federal budget. All individuals, as before, are provided with meals, and there is no talk of any reductions.”
Additionally, due to the tense situation in border territories, numerous provocative publications are appearing online. Trust should only be placed in official sources.
