The ginger cat curled up on the snow, wheezing helplessly, as he no longer had the strength to meow... Suddenly, someone picked him up from the cold ground.

- Who could have done this to you?! - exclaimed Dmitry, a resident of Yekaterinburg.

The man found the cat on the street while commuting to work in Zarechny and was horrified by its appearance: the animal was missing one eye, had a broken jaw, its fur and whiskers were singed, and its ears were frostbitten. The Urals resident immediately decided to take the furry friend home to show his wife, Ksenia. Thus, the ginger cat not only got a name – Pirate – but also a chance to survive and find a new home.

“NOW YOU ARE SAFE”

Dmitry discovered Pirate on December 20. The couple quickly took the animal to the veterinarian. The cat underwent all necessary tests and was prescribed a treatment course.

- The vet told us that Pirate was likely a house cat before. His injuries were inflicted about a month ago. So he survived on the street for a month with them, - Ksenia shares with “KP-Yekaterinburg”. - The little cat has already completed a course of antibiotics. He is currently recovering and gaining weight. On January 11, Pirate will have surgery on his jaw and his eye will be sewn up. After that, he will need a rehabilitation course. And then – just a happy life!

Compassionate Ural residents helped raise funds for the animal's treatment. After the first vet visit, the young woman posted on her social media requesting assistance.

- In just a few days, we were able to gather the necessary amount. There was a very positive response on social media. Huge thanks to everyone who cared, - Ksenia says. - For the first two weeks, Pirate was in quarantine since we have two other cats at home. Initially, we thought about finding him new owners, but soon realized that he is part of our family.

- Now you are in love and safe, - the girl says, stroking the ginger cat.

Currently, Pirate is adjusting to his new home. According to his owners, he quickly learned to use the litter box, eats well, asks to be petted, and purrs contentedly.
