A schoolboy in Moscow gave 200 million rubles to scammers. Following the criminals' instructions, the boy searched his parents' apartment, used a grinder to open a safe, and handed everything over to a courier. This news has stirred concern among Russians, with many noting that they can rest easy knowing their children won’t be deceived, as they do not disclose to their offspring where they keep their savings. This is reflected in the results of a survey conducted by KP.RU.

Specifically, 70% of Russians believe that children should not be informed about where savings are kept. While they are still young, they do not grasp the value of money and might misuse the stash. They could inadvertently spill the beans to friends or classmates or even hand over all family savings to fraudsters.

“Children shouldn’t know such things; it’s easiest to deceive a child, regardless of how smart they are. Adults can be robbed in no time,” reflects a survey participant.

Conversely, 19% of respondents feel confident in their child’s judgment, believing that they are rational and not easily influenced by scammers, and therefore openly share where their money is stored. Survey participants are convinced that in case of an emergency, a child should have access to the family’s funds.

The remaining 11% chose the “other” option. Some stated that they do not keep savings at home. There is no cash in the apartment that thieves or scammers could steal. All their savings are kept in banks. Others mentioned that they have no savings at all. While they may have salary cards or some cash in their wallets for daily expenses, they simply do not have any savings.

“We have nothing to hide in our family. I taught my children to work. No pain, no gain. But we earn modestly and have no savings,” shares a survey participant.

The survey was conducted among subscribers of the KP.RU website on social media platforms VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, as well as through the Telegram and Viber messengers. A total of 3,100 people participated in the research.
