"Yes, I can envision this fight; Islam's move to 77 kilograms seems possible to me. I believe that Khabib's team is analyzing Shavkat and sees the keys to victory in grappling. They plan to impose wrestling, takedowns, top control, and ground and pound. They consider the transition to this division highly likely.

The emergence of discussions about a potential Rakhmonov - Makhachev fight is beneficial for both, for Kazakh MMA, and for fans. The more people talk, the better. There is no such thing as bad publicity, except for an obituary; any mention and comparison is excellent," Makhametov believes.

The expert also assessed Makhachev's strength in moving up a weight category. In his opinion, the Dagestani champion could shine even brighter at 77 kilograms.

"Makhachev is very large for lightweight. I've always been amazed at how he fits into 70 kilograms. He is essentially a welterweight fighter. Dos Anjos showed that he feels great at 77 kilograms, McGregor did as well, and Cerrone had a winning streak there and almost fought for the title.

I see no issues for Makhachev in moving up a weight class; he is quite big, and he has a sturdy build. He will feel good there. Considering that he will have to cut down to seven kilograms less, he might even feel even better. It's similar to Pereira, who stopped cutting at 84 and flourished at 93. There are many such examples. I don’t foresee any problems. I think Islam will perform very well at 77 kilograms," Makhametov concluded.
