A Kazakhstani company has been placed under sanctions by Japan.

A private company from Kazakhstan has been sanctioned by Japan due to alleged connections with Russia, reports Orda.kz.
Казахстанская компания оказалась под японскими санкциями.

In addition, the Japanese government has imposed restrictions on companies from six other countries, including Kazakhstan. One Kazakhstani firm has been sanctioned. The list also includes companies from China (18), Turkey (eight), Kyrgyzstan (two), the UAE, and Thailand (one each). Japanese media do not disclose the name of the Kazakhstani firm.

According to information published on the Japanese Ministry of Finance's website on January 10, the company that has come under sanctions is LLP "DA Group 22", registered in Astana. The firm has been in existence since March 2022, and its sole founder is Lilia Nosaeva (a woman with the same name simultaneously manages several other enterprises, including the Akmolinsk regional branch of JSC "KazVtorCherMet").

TASS reports that this sanctions package also includes the freezing of assets belonging to one North Korean citizen and the Georgian MRB Bank.

The goal of the sanctions is to strengthen Japan’s response to North Korea's support for Russia and to Moscow's use of third countries to circumvent restrictions,” notes The Japan Times.

This is not the first instance of Japan imposing sanctions on a Kazakhstani company in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict. In June 2024, Japanese authorities announced restrictions against the firm Elem Group, which had previously been sanctioned by the United States.
