The head of state met with the chairman of the board of JSC NC "KazMunayGas," Askat Hasenov, as reported by Kazpravda.kz citing Akorda.

As Askat Hasenov stated, the oil and condensate production volume for the KMG group of companies reached 23.8 million tons, surpassing the 2023 figure by 1.3%. To maintain the production level, a Technological Challenges Program is being implemented, which involves the application of enhanced oil recovery methods with a differentiated approach for each field.

The President was informed that the design phase has begun for the Kalamkas-sea project, which is valued at $6.4 billion. Additionally, in 2024, drilling commenced at the Turgaï Paleozoic, Karaton Podsolovoy, Karazhar, and Taisoigan wells, which have resources exceeding 800 million tons in oil equivalent.

The head of state was updated that the volume of oil transportation in 2024 exceeded the 2023 figure by 4%, totaling 83.6 million tons.

Last year, domestic oil refineries processed 17.44 million tons of oil. Measures have been taken to increase the production of light oil products by 370 thousand tons compared to 2023 to ensure the domestic market.

As reported by the chairman of JSC NC "KazMunayGas," a project is underway to increase bitumen production to 750 thousand tons per year at LLP "CASPI BITUM." Preliminary construction work has begun on a polyethylene production plant valued at $7.4 billion, with a capacity of 1 million 250 thousand tons of products per year.

In the Mangistau region, the construction of a desalination plant is underway to provide quality drinking water to the residents of the city of Zhanaozen, and the construction of a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 247 MW has also started.

Furthermore, Kasyim-Zhomart Tokayev was presented with information regarding the implementation of social projects in the regions of the country.

In conclusion, the president instructed to continue systematic work on geological exploration, the implementation of large investment projects, and the development of the oil and gas chemistry sector.
