The head of the "Kazakhstan People" foundation explained why he declined a salary.

During a briefing at the SCK, Bolat Zhamishev, the chairman of the public fund "Kazakhstan Halqyna," explained why he declined to take a salary, as reported by NUR.KZ correspondent.

"The money that I did not receive (salary - ed.) went towards funding the education of students from low-income families in rural areas. Why did I refuse? First, to avoid being asked such questions.

Second, I am the chairman of the board of directors of "Bank RBK," and receiving a salary from a charitable organization seemed not impossible, but it was feasible to not receive one," - answered Zhamishev.

Let us remind you that in 2022, Bolat Zhamishev headed the "Qazaqstan Halqyna" fund, which was established at the request of the head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

It is worth noting that Zhamishev served as the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2007 to 2013.

At the end of December last year, Zhamishev informed Tokayev about where the funds from the "Qazaqstan Halqyna" fund are directed.
