Since the beginning of 2024, approximately 2,000 counterfeit banknotes have been removed from circulation in Kazakhstan, representing a serious threat to financial stability. The total amount of seized counterfeit money exceeds 80 million tenge.
“Eight individuals have been convicted for the production and distribution of fake banknotes. They have been sentenced to actual prison terms ranging from 5 to 6 years,” the agency explained.
