"This is more than justified (the expenditure of such an amount - editor's note). This is a political issue that will be perceived positively by our society. The people of Kazakhstan are preparing for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. One of the significant events will be the Armed Forces Parade of the Republic of Kazakhstan on May 7," - stated Deputy Andrey Lukin.
He added that the parade would attract interest from other countries around the world.
"Given this, the attention will be drawn not only from all Kazakhstanis but also, perhaps, from the global community. In this regard, the decision is absolutely correct, and there are no questions about it. Any expenses are justified," - said Lukin.
It is worth noting that in October 2024, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his views on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to him, the anniversary unites all the peoples of the CIS, symbolizing the triumph of the ideas of freedom and justice.
"We must always remember the unparalleled feat of our fathers and mothers, all war veterans and those who worked on the home front," - the president stated at that time.
In January, the Ministry of Labor reported the amount that will be paid to WWII veterans this year.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture held a briefing regarding the parade in Astana to honor the 80th anniversary of the victory, which will take place on May 7. It was reported that approximately 2.5 billion tenge will be spent on the military parade in Astana, covering expenses for fuel, spare parts, troop movement, uniform tailoring, travel expenses, and more.
A few days ago, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan showcased the official logo for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Yesterday, it was revealed that restoration work is underway around the iconic site in the 28 Guardsmen Panfilov Park - the Glory Memorial.
