In an interview, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was asked about his views on the emigration of Kazakh youth for education or employment opportunities abroad.
"Today, many young people aspire to go abroad to gain education or build a career. This is an inevitable consequence of globalization, so we must approach this phenomenon with understanding," said the president.
According to Tokayev, Kazakh youth can acquire solid knowledge and experience at leading global universities, broadening their horizons. Therefore, the state not only does not hinder but actively encourages citizens to study abroad.
"The international scholarship 'Bolashak' is well-known, and internships for young scientists at foreign research centers are also organized, along with student exchanges with several countries."
"I consider it normal for young citizens to travel for professional growth or to earn a higher salary. Young people should not be afraid to leave their comfort zone; they must be mobile. Staying in one village or city for life and demanding a high salary for half a month's work is an outdated mentality that modern youth should not adopt. One should strive to be where their skills are in demand, whether in a metropolis, another region, or even another country. 'Water does not flow under a lying stone,'" the head of state added.
Tokayev also noted that while abroad, young Kazakhs can benefit the country by promoting Kazakh traditions and culture, thereby enhancing the reputation of our nation. This, according to the president, is also an important mission – to promote the brand of Kazakhstan globally.
"However, emigration should not be seen as a 'one-way ticket.' It is better when our citizens return home to Kazakhstan after mastering new technologies and gaining experience. We have many sectors where qualified specialists are in high demand. The government's task is to create conditions for their productive work in our country," concluded Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Recall that in March of last year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the migration of Kazakhs, both internally and beyond the country's borders.
"There is a saying: 'Erect your flag on your native land.' The younger generation should understand the profound meaning of these words. Kazakhstan is our sacred and common homeland, and every corner of our country is our native land. Young people should feel equally comfortable in all regions, contributing to the development of our united and indivisible country," the president stated at that time.
Tokayev also emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge in other regions and even countries. It is essential to see with one's own eyes how other peoples live. One should go where they can bring the most benefit to themselves and their country, the president believes.
"If a good opportunity for decent legal earnings arises within the country or abroad, it should be seized. The most important thing is to be a responsible citizen, to work diligently, and to earn honestly," the president added.
Previously, Tokayev also spoke about the upbringing of the younger generation of Kazakhs.
It is worth noting that in his speeches, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev always pays special attention to young Kazakhs. For instance, in his address at the Presidential Youth Personnel Reserve Forum in February, he expressed high hopes for the younger generation.
He also addressed the youth in his speech ahead of Republic Day, emphasizing that all the transformations currently taking place in the country are primarily for them.
The president also pointed out that the younger generation should be instilled with love for Kazakh traditions and values.
