– Active efforts to develop the tourism sector have yielded results. Last year, around two million tourists visited the region, – notes the Akim of the Zhetysu region, Beibit Isabaev.
The majority of tourists arrive in the summer at Lake Alakol. The gradual development of the engineering infrastructure along its shores has been established. Construction of a sewage system and electrical networks from Besskol to Akshi has commenced. The nearest airport to Alakol is located in the city of Usharal, which becomes heavily trafficked during the summer.
– The runway of the airport has been reconstructed, along with the Taldykorgan – Usharal highway, which spans over 313 kilometers, – the Akim reported. – To increase the airport's capacity, project documentation is being developed for the construction of an additional terminal.
The flow of tourists is planned to be directed to Lake Balkhash. The construction of the road from Taldykorgan to Balkhash is nearing completion. Engineering infrastructure is being brought to the lake's shore, including 97.4 km of water supply, sewage, and electrical networks. The project costs over 7 billion tenge and is expected to be completed by the summer season.
There is also another attractive location in the region for tourists. This is the high-altitude Lake Zhasylkol in the Sarkand district. The route to it passes through the picturesque village of Topolevka, where a road has already been laid. Currently, a small tourist hub is being created in Topolevka: a hotel with 30 double rooms, a restaurant, a conference hall, a museum of local flora and fauna, and guides are being trained. As soon as all preparations are completed, the route to Lake Zhasylkol will be launched for both Kazakhstani and foreign tourists.
