Revenue from toll roads may reach 100 billion tenge by 2026, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Last year, the revenue from toll roads amounted to 48 billion tenge.
По данным Минтранспорта, к 2026 году доходы от платных дорог могут составить 100 миллиардов тенге.

“Currently, a paid road system spanning 3,200 kilometers operates across the country. In 2024, revenue reached 48 billion tenge. This year, an additional 4,000 kilometers of toll sections will be introduced, generating revenues of 60 billion tenge, and next year, they could reach 100 billion tenge,” said Karabaev.

He added that there is a proposal to allocate part of the funds generated from toll roads to cover interest rates on loans taken for construction work.

Furthermore, he mentioned that to reduce the burden on the budget and ensure self-sustainability, sections that have completed reconstruction and repair work are gradually being designated as “toll roads.”

In addition, the minister highlighted the development of service facilities along the roads. Currently, there are 1,446 service facilities in the country, 90% of which meet national standards.

By 2025, the goal is to raise this figure to 100%, as well as attract major investors for the construction of over 400 modern service facilities.

“By 2029, the construction of 60 complex facilities is planned, with 10 units to be completed this year. The total investment will amount to 120 billion tenge. These facilities will include rest areas and gas stations. Based on the development of service facilities along the roads, the first national hotel network and its franchise will be established in the country. This will not only impact the development of transport processes but also promote the growth of auto tourism,” noted the head of the agency.
