The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources reported the first successful mating of these wild animals.

According to the department, this event indicates that specialists have effectively accomplished their task - they have created the most comfortable conditions for the predators. Initially, there were doubts: would the tigers adapt to the Kazakh steppes? After all, the climate is quite different, and the territory is new.

Reserve workers shared that the adaptation of the predators took place in several stages - they were given time to acclimatize, stress factors were minimized, and now we see the result. If the tigers feel calm enough to reproduce, it means the experiment is proceeding as planned. There is now hope that in the near future, their offspring will appear in Kazakhstan, which will serve as the foundation for restoring the local population of the Turanian tiger, which disappeared many years ago.

The reintroduction program for this species was launched back in 2018 with the support of WWF and the UN Development Program and is now reaching a new level. Once the pair has offspring, the tigers are planned to be released into the wild, so they can fully acclimatize to the vastness of Kazakhstan.
