Bulgaria and Romania have officially joined the Schengen Area as full members.

As of January 1, 2025, border control will be abolished at the land borders of Bulgaria and Romania with other Schengen Zone countries, reports Orda.kz.
Болгария и Румыния теперь официально входят в состав Шенгенской зоны.

The complete abolition of border control was blocked by Austria for nearly two years. The authorities of this country expressed concerns about the infiltration of illegal migrants into the EU territory.

Now, the Schengen Area includes 29 countries, with an additional four — Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, and San Marino — having joined the Schengen zone due to their geographical characteristics (they are entirely surrounded by other countries and lack their own sea or air ports).
