The head of the government held a meeting regarding the measures for the implementation of the Year of Working Professions announced by the head of state, reports Kazpravda.kz citing the press service of the cabinet.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that skilled workers are the main productive force of the economy. Modern workers operate high-tech equipment and automated systems, which, in turn, requires a continuous process of upskilling and the development of intellectual, digital, and personal competencies.
It was noted that the economy needs thousands of qualified workers. Each year, new specialties emerge. Therefore, to forecast future skills and competencies, regional job atlases have been assigned to the akimats.
To facilitate informed choices among youth regarding working professions, new approaches in career guidance must be implemented, and a model of interaction between schools, colleges, and enterprises should be established, so that future specialists can see their professional prospects. The Ministry of Education has been tasked with conducting a quality transformation of the technical and vocational education sector.
Currently, state funding for college education has been doubled. New educational programs are being introduced in line with international requirements. Together with the akimat of the city of Astana, plans are underway to create a competence center.
At the same time, there is a need for corresponding measures from businesses, employers, and investors. Additionally, the Samruk-Kazyna fund should actively engage in this effort.
“We need to promote the best corporate practices for social support of the workforce, expand and introduce new incentives for them. I instruct the ministries of industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water resources, together with enterprises, akimats, and Otbasy Bank, to work on launching preferential mortgage and rental housing programs for workers,” noted Olzhas Bektenov.
Following the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed the relevant state bodies, akimats, national companies, and enterprises to ensure the effective implementation of industry and regional plans for the Year of Working Professions. All activities must be systematic, result-oriented, and yield long-term socio-economic benefits.
The government will maintain constant oversight of the Year of Working Professions, emphasized Olzhas Bektenov.
