Kazakhstan's army has once again been recognized as the best in Central Asia.

Global Firepower has released its updated military strength ranking for 2025, according to Orda.kz.
Армия Казахстана снова названа лучшей в Центральной Азии.

Among the neighbors in Central Asia, Uzbekistan ranked the highest this year, coming in at 58th place. The other Central Asian countries are positioned as follows: Turkmenistan at 77th, Kyrgyzstan at 105th, and Tajikistan at 108th.

When examining individual metrics, there are notable achievements as well—17th place for the number of multiple launch rocket systems (407 units) and 21st place for self-propelled artillery.

The United States maintained the top position in the ranking, followed by Russia in second place and China in third. India and South Korea rounded out the top five, while Bhutan was listed at the very end.

The Global Firepower ranking has been published for several years now. Its authors rank the armies of 145 countries based on more than 50 parameters, including the size of the military and other paramilitary formations, their funding, and the geography of the states themselves. However, the primary focus is on military capabilities—various types of weaponry, the number of active troops, and reservists, among others.

Last year, the RK army climbed five spots in the ranking, moving from 63rd place in 2023. Economist and public figure Aidar Alibaev shared with “Orda” the reasons behind Kazakhstan's military advancement in the Global Firepower list. You can read his opinion here.
