A "Feminita" activist was sentenced to 10 days in jail for a protest held last year.
One of the founders of the "Feminita" movement, Zhanar Sekerbaeva, was detained on February 28 after a training session at the gym. She was accused of organizing a rally in connection with a march scheduled for May 2024. During that event, women took to the streets following the sentencing of Kuandyk Bishimbaev, demanding justice for all perpetrators of violence, as reported by Orda.kz.

The "Feminita" team believes that the arrest of Janar "was carried out intentionally to disrupt any plans the activist had for March 8." They add that the trial was conducted "with a significant number of violations."
Recently, Janar Sekerbayeva was prosecuted as the head of an unregistered organization. She was found guilty and ordered to pay a fine of nearly 400,000 tenge. Gulzade Serzhan, a co-founder of the "Feminita" movement, received the same sentence. The movement has initiated a fundraising campaign to cover the fines for Janar and Gulzada.
