Having mastered the state language through the school curriculum, she energetically took on the task of popularizing and expanding the use of the Kazakh language among students and the youth of Akkol. An active and proactive young woman, she inspires her peers to study the language through her own example, contributing to the formation of a linguistic culture and enhancing the status of the state language among the population. Judging by the results, Milana, who shares her ideas and creates interesting projects, is succeeding.

It all began with Milana's far-sighted grandmother, an educator by profession, who enrolled her in the Akkol Music School. The girl was eager to learn the piano, but her grandmother insisted on placing her in a dombra class instead. Growing up in a Russian-speaking environment, the girl encountered folk music and the Kazakh language while learning kyuys and musical pieces. A diligent student, she brought joy to her teachers with her progress.

By the sixth grade, Milana completed her music school education in the dombra class. The straight-A student was taken under the wing of her Kazakh language teacher, Zhanar Kurumbaeva, who prepared her for participation in a district language Olympiad. She vividly remembers her first competition, where she learned dialogues, proverbs, and several poems on all the proposed topics in just one week. Her ability to play the dombra was a wonderful addition to her skills.

Alongside her studies in the Kazakh language, the determined girl did not neglect her native Ukrainian and English. As a result, today Milana Skorik is fluent in four languages. However, she has always dedicated a little more attention to the Kazakh language.

– This is the language of my homeland, which I must know well. I was born, live, and work in Kazakhstan, and I have no plans to change my residence. Moreover, I am convinced that knowing languages always opens new opportunities for development. I have always understood how much useful information can be gained by learning any new language, – says the interlocutor.

According to Milana, she drew great inspiration for learning the state language from the films of producer, TV presenter, and actress Bayan Alaguzova. She enjoyed watching series on the "Khabar" channel, immersing herself in unfamiliar words while reading subtitles in Russian.

Today, she continues to expand her language skills by listening to music in Kazakh, watching films, and reading books. She willingly participates in the public life of her district, leading the youth wing "Zhastar Rukhı" at the Akkol branch of the "Amanat" party. Recently, she shared her experiences at the VI Republican Forum "The Interethnic Language of the Great Steppe" held in Kokshetau. In addition, Milana Skorik is a student in the correspondence department of the Faculty of Journalism at the Moscow International University. Despite all this, she finds time for her blogging activities, managing her accounts on TikTok and YouTube.

She has been living at this intense pace for several years now. With her presumably innate drive to move forward and improve, she enjoys all of it. She only regrets not graduating from a Kazakh school. This desire emerged during her senior years, but it was already too late to change anything in her case.

Milana notes that in her surroundings, in her hometown of Akkol, there are still few people who speak the state language. However, the energetic, charming, and goal-oriented girl is confident that this is only temporary. She strives to change the situation as much as she can. For example, as the head of the youth wing "Zhastar Rukhı" at the Akkol Agrotechnical College, she opened a conversation club called "Söyle" in February 2024, where she conducts classes herself. Today, the speaking club is attended by 25 students, as they find it interesting. My young interlocutor, without false modesty, believes that the progress the students have made in conversational Kazakh during this time clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of her efforts. Moreover, her TikTok blog, where she also conducts online Kazakh language classes, has attracted followers from various corners of the world. About five percent of the 20,000 young people who have subscribed to her page want to learn Kazakh alongside her.
