According to the press service of JSC "NC "Kazakh Tourism", British citizen Ellie Dunnington has visited 116 countries, accumulating a total of 1,570 flight hours. She is the only female athlete in the world planning to set a world record in ballooning. Ellie is skilled in operating various types of balloons, from small hoppers to large passenger craft that can accommodate 16 people.
– Kazakhstan became the 116th country on my journey, and it is one of the most exciting stops! – shared Ellie Dunnington after a successful landing. – The view of the snowy mountains, grazing horses, and camels here is absolutely stunning! This flight is dedicated to my husband, with whom I began this round-the-world adventure. I am determined to set the record by flying over 120 countries. Here in Almaty, we felt a special warmth and support, for which we are very grateful to the organizers!
Ellie's partner, Brazilian Lais Lummertz, has been involved in ballooning since she was ten years old. She started with hot air ballooning and then obtained her pilot's license. Kazakhstan marks the 12th country where Lais has taken to the skies.
– I am thrilled by the flight! The view is breathtaking, the sky over Almaty is simply magical! – exclaimed the athlete. – I am often called an extreme pilot because I love risky flights, but today everything went smoothly and safely. We gained some very interesting experience.
For his part, the chairman of JSC "NC "Kazakh Tourism", Kairat Sadbakassov, emphasized that the flight of professional aeronauts demonstrates the growing interest of foreign tourists and extreme sports enthusiasts in our country. This is an opportunity to draw the world's attention to Kazakhstan's tourist attractions. The Almaty region, with its unique landscape and natural beauty, is the perfect place to host a balloon festival.
By the way, Central Asia has become the final stage on the athletes' quest for a world record. In the coming days, they plan to visit our neighboring countries, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
