According to the Strategy, the capital aims to increase the share of public transport usage to 71%. This will be achieved by enhancing the speed of travel during peak hours, improving comfort, and increasing accessibility. This was announced by the Akim of Astana, Zhenis Kasymbek, at a press conference at the SCK, as reported by Kazpravda.kz with reference to the SCK.
“This year, medium repairs have been conducted on 50 streets. Next year, another 50 will be repaired,” said the Akim of Astana, Zhenis Kasymbek.
The city leader noted that the construction of the LRT has significantly accelerated. The construction of the overpass has been completed.
“Next year, the construction of stations will be completed by mid-summer. It is also planned that the first trains will arrive by mid-autumn of next year. The LRT is set to start operations in early 2026,” said the Akim at the press conference in SCK.
Earlier, a training program for LRT train operators was announced in Astana.
