The growth in Kazakhstan's tourism sector is confirmed by the statistics of the "eQonaq" system, reports Kazpravda.kz citing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As of the end of September, 460,652 legal entities and individuals are using this platform to account for tourists, indicating a growing interest in tourism within the country.
Since the system's launch, over 3.3 million tourists have been registered, and in September alone, more than 140,000 notifications were sent.
"Data analysis shows that administrative centers and western regions of Kazakhstan remain the most popular destinations for foreign guests. Uzbekistan leads among source countries with 40,452 tourists arriving. Russia is in second place with 34,650 tourists, while China ranks third with 15,868 visitors."
"The purposes of visits are varied: 39.1% of tourists come for leisure, 28% visit Kazakhstan for personal matters, 10.3% for business meetings, 4.6% for work-related issues, and 18% arrive for other reasons," the ministry reported.
Age analysis reveals that the majority of tourists are individuals under 39 years old, after which there is a gradual decline in visitor numbers. Among all foreign nationals who stayed in accommodations in September, 69% are men and 31% are women.
