The specialized inter-district court for criminal cases in the West Kazakhstan region has announced the verdict for a former state revenue service employee extradited from Georgia for accepting a bribe, reports Kazpravda.kz.
According to the main transport prosecutor's office, it was proven during the trial that the defendant received a bribe amounting to 75.5 million tenge for allowing unhindered passage of vehicles through the customs checkpoint at the Kazakhstan-Russia border from December 2021 to September 2022.
“The convicted individual has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with a prohibition on working in state and financial organizations. Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of property and required the defendant to repay the amount of the bribe,” stated the supervisory authority.
They also noted that the court's verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
