103 billion tenges have been saved this year as a result of measures taken by the Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) to prevent the embezzlement of budget funds, reports Kazpravda.kz
According to the FMA, during the inspection of project and estimation documentation for the construction of infrastructure and social facilities, costs were reduced for 61 construction projects, allowing the state to save approximately 103 billion tenges.
“For instance, in the Karaganda region, during the development stage of the design and estimate documentation for the ‘Reconstruction of the main structures of the water treatment plant of LLP ‘Karaganda Su’, an inflated cost for 5 types of pipe products was identified,” the agency noted.
This inflation was detected through monitoring prices for similar goods and alternative offers from other suppliers. As a result of collaborative efforts with the executive authority, the declared estimated cost of the project was reduced by 6.1 billion tenges.
“In another case, in Aktobe, during the implementation of the ‘Construction of the Moiseyevsky Water Intake’ project, unnecessary water reservoirs were replaced with smaller volume tanks, which allowed for savings of 827 million tenges (expenses decreased from 929 to 102 million tenges),” the official statement said.
The changes in tank volumes necessitated adjustments to the sizes of the connecting pipes and pumps, resulting in savings for the region of approximately 20 billion tenges, noted the FMA.
