The city of Astana, under the tourist brand Visit Astana, has officially become a member of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), as reported by Kazpravda.kz citing the press service of the city administration.

Astana's entry into the international organization took place during the Annual WTA Meeting at the international tourism forum WTA • Xianghu Dialogue 2024, which is being held from October 29 to November 1 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China.

By joining the WTA, Astana enhances international cooperation in tourism and opens new opportunities for promoting the tourist potential of Kazakhstan's capital on a global scale. In 2024, 22 new organizations joined WTA.

As a new member of the World Tourism Alliance, Astana is unlocking new opportunities for the development of international tourism and attracting foreign guests, thereby increasing Kazakhstan's appeal on the global tourism stage.

The forum "Xianghu Dialogue 2024" will continue until November 1, during which leading representatives from the tourism sector and international organizations from 45 countries will discuss current economic trends and new directions in tourism. This year, the forum is themed "Geared Up for a New Venture – The Future is Now," encouraging participants to discuss the current state and prospects of the tourism development industry.

Key topics include: sustainable tourism development, strengthening international cooperation, expanding tourism interactions between countries, and the role of innovation and "green" technologies in the travel industry.
