The agency provided statistics indicating that coal prices in Kazakhstan are significantly lower than in neighboring countries. Mines are selling it for up to 9,000 tenge per ton.
In general, residents in various regions can purchase it for prices ranging from 8,000 to 28,000 tenge. The cost varies depending on the grade, delivery distance, and availability of railway spurs.
“When compared to global prices, the Cif Ara European price is around 100-110 dollars, which means there is a significant difference — it is four times cheaper. The coal prices in our neighboring countries, such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, are also relatively higher. Therefore, we can say that we have quite comfortable prices for utility-grade coal,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turar Zholmagambetov.
