“One of the most significant issues we are addressing, and which we pay special attention to, is the development of the transport framework in Almaty and the improvement of the environmental situation. It is clear that the foundation of Almaty's transport framework is primarily based on the development of high-speed public transport. We are referring to the further development of our metro, the expansion of light rail transport, and the creation of dedicated bus lanes for BRT,” said Dosaev at a briefing in the SCC.
According to him, the plan is to complete the construction from the station "Kalkaman" to the station "Barlyk," covering 5.3 kilometers, and 4 kilometers from the station "Zhibek Zholy" to the airport, which will total 19.5 kilometers.
“Now I would like to mention that we are in negotiations with all creditors, primarily with all internationally recognized financial institutions such as IFC, EBRD, ADB, Exim Bank of China, and the Asian Development Bank. Today, we are selecting the best conditions that will be offered to us,” concluded Dosaev, adding that the preliminary loan is estimated to be up to 1 billion US dollars.
