In Aktobe, a school worth 1.8 billion tenge has been under construction for five years without completion.

In the village of Shilisai, the construction of a school has been ongoing for 5 years, with 1.8 billion tenge already spent on it. Anti-corruption activists have raised concerns not only regarding the construction timeline but also about the authorities' decision to build an educational institution in this village. The school is designed to accommodate 1,200 children in two shifts, yet there are currently only 88 schoolchildren living in Shilisai.

Additionally, the Anti-Corruption Agency noted that they had proposed to conduct an internal investigation to hold accountable those who decided to construct a large school in an unpromising residential area. However, this initiative received no support.

Concerns also surround the construction of a tuberculosis dispensary, for which 500 million tenge has already been spent. It turns out that a tuberculosis dispensary is not needed in the region at this time, and the local administration is taking no steps to utilize the building.

It is worth mentioning that the tuberculosis dispensary for 300 beds was initiated near the medical center in 2016. Two floors were constructed, the roof was partially completed, and after a few years, the construction was put on hold.

This year, the construction of a sports and wellness complex was completed in the Irgiz district.

“The quality of the construction work leaves much to be desired, and the necessary equipment for volleyball, football, and basketball is lacking,” reported the employees of the anti-corruption department during a meeting with the regional akim.

The Anti-Corruption Agency summarized that out of 17 problematic facilities, only 7 have been commissioned, 4 are nearing completion, while there are risks of delays in construction for 5 of the facilities.
