During the meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reminded that the country expects to retire over 800 worn-out passenger cars by 2030 due to their service life. The Prime Minister asked the head of the department how they plan to reduce the deficit.
“This is a very relevant issue. Production of passenger cars will begin in Astana in 2025, which will ensure the output of more than 500 passenger cars by 2030. Additionally, there is an enterprise in Petropavlovsk that will produce around 300 cars. In the future, the fleet of passenger cars will be updated,” informed Sharalpaev.
Overall, according to him, the railway engineering sector has significant potential for development. Currently, the total fleet of rolling stock is approximately 139,000 units, with an average wear of 55%.
He added that today, railway engineering enterprises have produced goods worth 423 billion tenge, which is 1.5 times more than last year.
“By the end of the year, we plan to increase the production of freight cars fourfold, reaching 2,000 units. Additionally, we aim to produce 122 passenger cars and 130 locomotives,” noted the Minister of Industry.
