“The LRT is being actively constructed thanks to the support of the head of state. Most of the work on the overpass has been completed. The entire LRT infrastructure will be ready by summer; currently, the rail laying is underway, and work on signaling will begin in the spring,” reported Zhenis Kasymbek.
According to him, the first trains are expected to arrive in August-September of next year, with the first 15 sets anticipated to arrive in the fall.
“Technical movement will open at the end of next year, with a full launch in operational mode at the beginning of 2026. Initially, when the project was planned, a flow of about 20,000 passengers per day was expected. We can already see that the flow will be significantly higher. The fare will be recalculated, so I can’t provide a specific price. However, I can say that this is public transport, and we aim to keep prices within reasonable limits, so the fare will be fair and acceptable,” clarified the akim.
It is worth noting that in 2023, 50 billion tenge was allocated for the continuation of the LTR project in the capital. By that time, according to the akimat, approximately 600 million US dollars had already been spent on this project. Overall, the LRT line will include 18 stations with multi-level halls and platforms, which are divided into two types: ground (11 stations) and elevated (7 stations).
